Senior Director / Director Innovation & Exploratory Research

Reporting to the VP of Research, the Senior Director / Director of Innovation & Exploratory Research will play an important role in defining and advancing our portfolio of emerging projects aimed at creating and expanding the TRuC™ platform. This individual will be responsible for developing next generation TRuC-T cells and tools that enhance their activity. They will be expected to be creative and focused. They will be asked to build a team called the Innovation Focus Group and providing it with scientific and people leadership. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated scientist with a demonstrated track record of leadership in discovery through internal and external collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with the literature, internal and external experts to identify promising opportunities for TCR2
  • Manage and build a capable, creative exploratory team to investigate new scientific areas and execute on external collaborations
  • Create a pipeline of early-stage projects to feed the late-stage pre-clinical & clinical pipelines at TCR2
  • Contribute to reviewing inbound and outbound business development opportunities in collaboration with internal Strategic Partnerships team
  • Partner with internal functional area colleagues to develop plans to deliver early stage projects for internal or external development
  • Prepare, review and deliver scientific presentations for internal/external use
  • Aggressively identify new, relevant scientific developments and work with our teams to incorporate them into our projects
  • Stay current on state-of-the-art principles and developments relevant to the discovery of new therapies

Requirements:

  • PhD, with at least 10 years of relevant experience with a majority of that in biotech/pharma early research and development activities
  • Experience networking within the life science ecosystem with the proven ability to establish collaborative working relationships with in-house team members, academic labs, and industry thought leaders
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors
  • Intellectually agile and able to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment
  • Ability to use scientific methods to formulate and test biological hypotheses, analyze, interpret and report results
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with cell therapy a plus
  • Strong scientific reputation evidenced by a good publication record preferred
