Vice President, Research

TCR² Therapeutics Inc. is an immuno-oncology company developing novel cancer therapies that unleash the full signaling power of complete T cell receptors (TCR). TCR² has developed a unique proprietary TRuC™ platform which can reprogram the natural TCR complex to recognize specific antigens found on tumors where they elicit rapid killing of cancer cells. The company has demonstrated activity against both hematological and solid tumor targets in preclinical models and believes its TRuC™-reprogrammed T cells will serve as the engine for important therapies.  TCR² was founded by MPM Capital and has scientific operations in Cambridge, MA to leverage best-in-class technologies and nucleate top-tier academic laboratories around the world.

The VP of Research will be a senior leader responsible for overseeing the company’s internal immunology, pharmacology, and bioanalytical teams.  Reporting directly to the CSO, he/she will be responsible for the advancement of TRuC-T cell programs from concept to the clinic. This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented senior-level individual to contribute to bringing a new class of T cell therapies to patients and gain valuable career experience in a growing company.


  • Provide scientific leadership to advance TRuC-T cell pipeline programs

  • Provide immunology research direction to advance TruC-T cell programs from concept into the clinic

  • Lead the development of bioanalytics and biomarker discovery

  • Supervise the submission of regulatory-relevant data packages for IND applications

  • Strategic input into the research direction of our T cell programs

  • Establish and maintain a network of external academic collaborators

  • Oversee collaborative research programs with external partners

  • Work collaboratively with the Research and Process Development teams

  • Establish and maintain key relationships with global leaders in immuno-oncology and T cell therapy

  • Responsibility to manage timelines and maintain the department budget

  • Attend and present corporate/scientific information at relevant conferences

  • Hire, build and lead scientific teams of PhD level scientists and MS/BS level research associates build and manage groups of scientists and research associates


  • Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or related discipline

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in immunology research, industry experience highly preferred

  • 10+ years of scientific leadership and mentoring in immune-oncology or adoptive cell therapy

  • Expertise in interpreting data from immune cell functional assays to study and pre-clinical models of T cell therapies

  • Extensive experience with regulatory requirements and IND submission process

  • Ability to lead teams by example and promote company culture

  • Experience in strategic planning, project leadership, laboratory and budget management

  • Effective communicator and leader with excellent organization skills

  • Experience in hiring, supervising, developing and evaluating employees
